I wouldnt say the generals in the final era were all mediocre. There were some stand out talents like Lu Kang, Yang Hu, Deng Ai, Wen Yang, and a few others. The problem was really a mirror of Liu Bei's initial problem.....Plenty of good warriors and civic officers, and no good strategists. And without other strategists to inspire, drive, and challenge SImi Yi, he wasnt as invested in uniting the Kingdoms as he had been when he had an arch nemesis. Your right about the rest though, and it is depressing to see it all go to hell like it did. Nepotism is one of the WORST features of any civilization. Because there is no guarantee, in fact its highly unlikely, that people will live up to thier forebears. Meritocracies are the way to go, NOT bloodlines. In fact, we are seeing the problems of Nepotism IRL even now in everything from Politics to Hollywood across the world. Nepotism doesnt even mean they have to be related, really. Since "Who you know" becomes more important than what you are capable of becomes the way of things, leaving true talent to waste away while mediocrity reigns.

Interesting history of how Japan and China influenced each other despite their current hatred. Dragon Ball Z, Hoshin Engi, and Ya Boy! Kongming are modern examples of Chinese influence on Japan while Luo Xiao Hei is an example of Japanese influence on China.

We lost the seal a thousand years ago, only showed up in a few occasions in history books, and never found. All national seals in countries like Japan Korean Vietnam, are originated from this seal(stamp- like the post stamp), according to the history( the history before 1000 After Chris was borne) ownership of this seal will automatically give anyone the authority to rule( ppl never questioned). So it is right to say it worth a lot of money, but I doubt it, as you will never find a way to prove the authenticity anyhow ( the seal was made at the time ppl are still using bamboo to write instead of paper, so it was not possible to keep any copy of the stamp after 2000years… just some thoughts

This is a great video, but there are some misconceptions about fireworks. In China, fireworks shot out of a tube, and it was the same in Europe. Today's "exploding balls in the air for display" fireworks first appeared in Japan in the 17th century. In other words, what we think of as fireworks today were invented by the Japanese.

I find it odd though, when he refers to them as the "white huns" when they werent really white. Atilla and his hordes came from the steppes of Southern Russia, which was largely made up of Eurasians (an ethnic group which grew out of eastern white Europeans and far eastern tribes who had co-existed and blended to form a new people). They were really no more or less warlike than everyone else for most of their time. And it wasnt really until Atilla turned things up to 11 that things got as crazy as they did for them becoming aggressive. No one is sure WHICH eastern ethnic groups these ancient white tribes melded with, so I think it IS an important clue that the Xiongnu (Liubao's lineage was very impressive! I mean really! His grandson managed to sack Luoyang That takes some talent) ! also refer to themselves from their origin as "Huns". It could be that some of their northern peoples were the ones who melded with the white southerners creating a whole new caste of northern Hun tribes. Because culturally, they were full-on Ancient asian style! And as for the roots of the Xiongnu, I think they had Chinese blood, but were mainly members of the nomadic QIang peoples who from time to time, would decide they had enough wandering and would settle down with their families, creating tribes over time. These tribes practically bordered around all of China, who really only treated them as part of China when it was beneficial to do so, but they were largely a separate people. Other than that one misunderstanding though, he is spot on.

"Darga" in Tuvan means a high ranking official. And Munzuk/Mundzuk was a common name among Tuvan people. It's interesting that Chines "B" became "M" because the same happened with Tuvan. We differ from other Turkic(even Mongolic I suppose) languages by that(not only that though).

Nothing but love for this interview. But ill leave this here Writing in 2009, Christopher Beckwith refers to there being a "general consensus among Eurasianists" that the Xiongnu and Huns are not related. (22] This consensus has been challenged by historian Étienne de la Vaissière (2005 and 2015), [23] historian and linguist Christopher Atwood (2012), archaeologist Toshio Hayashi (2014), 124] and historian Hyun Jin Kim (2013 and 2015). Writing in 2020, Alexander Savelyev and Choongwon Jeong refer to the proposed connection as having "only limited support in modern scholarship" (2] while Warwick Ball, writing in 2021, writes that there is "no general consensus" and that "scholarship is divided" on the issue. 1

The idea that the japanischen had no writing System until the 5 th and 6 th century should be Thron in the trashcan. First there are a few examples of writing found bevor. They were only so shorts and rare that historiens did not Tage them seriously. And second complex societies need writingsystems to work. The writing was maybe not very Commonwealth in early Japan it was probably something for the 0,01 percent on top of the society but IT Existenz. In early european medieval society it was the same only a Hand full of people could use writing and we have basicly almost no original writing from this time. We only know about them because their writing was copied and conservated from Generation to Generation until more people could read and write. If that would not have happens we would not know who charlemagne the great was.

China and Japan have very different cultures. The japanischen tried to copy China by becommeng a second china but that only worked poorly. After a while they developed away from China again. The small similarities are remnants from this trying and failing. However. Japan has a completely diffent language, its architektur is made of small high spacefficient buildings weich is completely different from China. Its food is very seafood oriented. Also different. Its society is still a clansystem. Its whole history is basicly a history of warlords. Its traditionelle furniture is very low. Sometimes they were Sitzung on the flor. They have man different religions. Where are the similarities. I know only about 3 similarites. Both cultures have AT least theoretically an emperor and a Bürokratie administration. Both Workshop Konfuzius and acording to DNAresearch and Chinese history Sourcecode both have Commonwealth angestoßen. The chinise Sourcecode say the japanischen are fugitives from the Kingdom of Wu. A kingdom of the time of the warring Status in Chinese history. In a way Japan is a kingdom of the warring Status that was never conquered by the chin dynasty.
